Veterans Day Profile: Robert J.

Military Service

U.S. Army – 5 years

What led you to join the military?

I joined because my older brother was also in the military and most of my family members have served as well. Also, when 9/11 had happened, I knew right then and there I was going to serve my country.

How has your military service impacted your life?

It has impacted in numerous ways, but I definitely feel that it has turned me into the man I am today. Ever since the military I have always been in some kind of a leadership position and it taught me to appreciate the things we have in life more and not take things for granted.

What was your greatest challenge in the military?

I would definitely have to say Ranger school! That was one of the hardest things I have done in my life. It wasn’t easy, but I was able to push through and really test myself. Definitely a proud moment.

What is something you learned in the military that you still use today?

A lot of things: being able to lead by example, integrity, loyalty, and being able to work under pressure and still get through things.
