Truck Driver Appreciation Week – Meet Adrian, Belly Dump Driver for Texas Materials

It’s Truck Driver Appreciation Week! In our business, nothing happens without our drivers. We’re spotlighting a few incredible drivers as part of the celebration. First up: Adrian, a belly dump driver.

How did you get started driving?

I had been delivering and was at my peak for non-CDL, so I took the opportunity to go to roadmaster school and from there I started off delivering in a 53-footer to the Dallas, Houston and San Antonio areas. Later, I transitioned to driving for a waste management company before coming to Texas Materials.

What has your experience been like since joining the company?

This has been the best company that I’ve worked for. Managers here take care of their employees, and here in New Braunfels we have brand new 2021 Kenworth trucks with great ACs and great radios. Anything that goes on with these trucks, they’re on it. They fix everything the same day and get it taken care of so you don’t have to worry about it the next day.

Do you have any advice for others looking to get into driving?

Drive cautiously and be sure to always brake completely at a stop. If you drive safe, watch your surroundings in construction zones, and make sure you go the speed limit, you’ll be in good shape. In this line of work, you always need to wear your PPE to stay safe at plants, job-sites and on the road.
