I joined to get out of my small town and see the world. I came from a family with no means to pay for college so the Air Force was my out.
How has your military service impacted your life?
Being in the military has made me more grateful to be an American. Living in different third world countries opens your eyes to the privilege Americans have. We are blessed to live in the greatest country in the world.
What was your greatest challenge in the military?
Greatest challenge in the military was actually getting out of the military. When you live most of your life in the military lifestyle, it’s hard to adapt to the civilian world. The military trains you for battle, they don’t train you to come home.
What is something you learned in the military that you still use today?
The military taught me how to be reliable, punctual, and consistent. If something needs to be done, just do it. Treat everyone with respect, no matter the position.
